Snickerdoodles are soft in the middle, slightly crunchy on the edges with a cinnamon vanilla flavor.
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1-1/2 cup granulated, sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 2-3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1-1/2 Tablespoons granulated sugar to roll cookies in
- 1 tsp ground, cinnamon to roll cookies in
Cream together butter and shortening, then add sugar, eggs and vanilla. Mix well.
Add remaining ingredients and make sure the dry ingredients are well incorporated.
Shape into walnut-sized balls of dough and roll in sugar/cinnamon mixture and place on cookie sheet.
Bake cookies at 400 degrees for approximately 8 minutes. They will be soft in the middle when removed from oven.
