Homemade Bread in a Bread Machine

This recipe produces a lovely tall, light loaf with an amazing flavor. Perfect for a fabulous sandwich or just warm with a slab or butter.

  • 1 cup and 3 Tbsp water
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3-1/4 cups white, bread flour
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 tsp active, dry yeast


  • Place oil, water, sugar in bread pan that is already locked or snapped into place in the bread machine. Then add flour. 
  • Make a small well on top of the flour and add the yeast to this indentation.
  • Close the Bread Machine lid. Use "basic bread" setting with a light to medium crust. You can set your machine to "quick bread" if you are in more of a hurry and it turns out wonderful.
  • When timer on bread machine indicates it is done baking, carefully remove the bread pan from the machine and place on wire rack to cool.
