Classic Old Fashioned Rice Pudding

Classic Old Fashioned Rice Pudding is basic pantry ingredients of rice, brown sugar, vanilla and milk. This is cooked slowly on the stove top to create a creamy, sweet pudding that is an absolute treat!!

Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup uncooked rice
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine, milk, sugar and salt and bring to a boil over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the rice and turn the heat down to low. You want to make sure the milk is just at a very gentle simmer.
  3. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking. Cook for about 40 minutes or until mixture has thickened to the consistency of yogurt.
  4. Once thickened, remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
  5. Spoon into dishes and sprinkle with cinnamon if you like. Can be eaten warm or cold. Enjoy!
