So, Thanksgiving is winding down and everyone is laying around looking like they are in their 3rd trimester. There is moaning and groaning going on, belt buckles are being loosened, heaven forbid someone has to get up off the couch for any reason. We can’t possibly eat another bite……OH THE PAIN! Pie……..? Did you say pie? Well, yes, I do believe I can eat just a “sliver.” Supine now becomes the position of the night.
The Ultimate Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich is the best part of Thanksgiving. It is artfully placed on bread and eaten with your hands, NOM-NOM!
As full as these bellies are, as satiated as our palate is, there is always talk of The Ultimate Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich. Doesn’t matter if the thought of these makes you queasy in your hyper full state, you know when that passes, you will again descend on the kitchen and head to the fridge now bulging with leftovers and cherry-pic the perfect ingredients to fulfill your November sandwich fantasy.
I love Thanksgiving, but to me the best part is the roasted, crispy, turkey skin that we rip off and eat before the bird even hits the table and then without a doubt, The Ultimate Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich. I have several different Thanksgiving sandwiches I rotate on my post holiday menu, but today it is the Ultimate. I like mine on a soft bread, but sturdy enough to hold up to the weight of my ingredient selection.
The Ultimate Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich is a gastronomic delight. Gobble it up before someone else does!!
Odds are, you have eaten a turkey sandwich before and you may have even made it with a little lettuce, onion and tomato and thought it was good. I want you to think about taking that sandwich to the next level, with the perfect combo of leftovers from the previous day’s celebration.
The Ultimate Leftover Thanksgiving Sandwich is the answer to any question regarding a really good sandwich. To some, it sounds bizarre to add stuffing, gravy or even cranberry sauce to a sandwich, but that which was a perfect bite on your Thanksgiving fork, is AMAZING nestled between two pieces of soft bread.
I always make sure I put bread on my Thanksgiving shopping list, so when we are ready to head back in for round two, we are ready to go! I start with a generous layer of cream cheese mayo on both slices of bread. Then a cold and crispy piece of lettuce. Then I layer, thin slices of turkey, onto which I place a spoonful of warm mashed potatoes, drizzled with gravy and topped with warm stuffing. Finally, I top this off with sweet and tart cranberry sauce and place the final piece of bread that has also been spread with the cream cheese mayo. Ahhhh perfection!!
